Thank You

Top to bottom: First BBQ of the season, tofu and pineapple (don't they look perplexed by the tofu? ha)//seashells not eggshells//staring at the sun with my parents
Oh you guys, where do I start? I want to start this like a letter...like Dear Bloggers or Dear Readers, because this post is to you. I guess they all are. They are meant for anyone who wants to listen.
At Easter mass, during my after-communion prayer, I rambled on about a lot of things. I thanked God for Easter and everything it means-- sacrifice, forgiveness, mystery, love. I asked God to help me forgive myself and others. Then I thanked God for my family, my friends, and for you. Does this letter sound too sappy already? I'm serious. Where would I be without all of that? If you didn't support this blog, my dream would be like a shooting star, something wonderful that's gone as soon as you realize it's there; something I would never grasp. In supporting this blog you help support my dreams and how can I ever thank you enough for that? So to anyone out there reading this, THANK YOU!
I'm so glad you feel I have been opening my heart to you. I can't thank you enough for returning the favor.

Now, since we are on the subject of "the real me" here are 10 things I bet you didn't know:

  1. I don't drink coffee
  2. I have my black belt in taekwondo
  3. I think my stuffed animals have feelings
  4. I like cleaning my house
  5. I don't like giving hello or goodbye hugs to people I am just getting to know
  6. My favorite TV show of all time is Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  7. I love to shower outside, not inside
  8. I'm an introvert
  9. I won't eat breakfast foods like pastries or waffles and would much rather eat cheerios and replace the milk with a sprinkle of soy sauce
  10. I hate change
How about you? What's something random about you that most people probably don't know?

Cheerios and soy sauce??? Oh girl. I won't yuck your yum but that's one thing I don't think I'll be trying this.

I am afraid of the dark. (I actually am using my almost one year old daughters night light in my room..)

I also think my stuffed animals may have feelings. I feel awful that there's one in the closet right now :( I also don't drink coffee. It does not taste good! Two other random facts for ya - I'm not a good sport when it comes to getting scared. I've warned my husband it's a good enough reason for divorce in my books. And two I love wake boarding but almost never get to. Have a great day!

i love coffee way too much, i think i can't live without it. i was obsessed with Buffy as well when i was in junior high, and i secretly wished i were a vampire-slyer and that vampires were real. i realized that i have a height-phobia in high school. and i'm afraid of the sea waves. that's why i never surf, which i regret and i'm about to change that!

Did you find all those shells? They are amazing!

Getting use to the cheek kissing in Australia was really weird. I bet you would find it especially difficult! I've had a few awkward moments where a girlfriend and I almost kissed on the lips.

I think I read your whole blog from start to finish today. You are such an inspiration! I am currently a law student in New England, but my true passions are writing and the outdoors. You live a life I dream of, and give me hope someday I can make it!! Thanks!

I also dislike hello/goodbye hugs... I mean, if you're a good friend, brace yourself for a doozie... but for new people its always an awkward almost touch.

Also I'm not a fan of waffles or pancakes... but I've never tried Cheerioes with soy sauce... are you being serious with that or just saying you prefer a salty breakfast?

Your blog is great! Discovered it recently and have really enjoyed it :) I love seashells as well...I had tons from when I used to live by the beach but I had to leave them all in the states :/ haha I'm probably the opposite from you on the hugging thing....one thing about me is that I hate texting. HATE IT. but can't get away from it (first world problems right??)

Cheerios and soy sauce? I'm not going to slam it, because since college, I've loved Chik nuggets and chocolate pudding. I don't know what made me do it in the first place, but it's so good!

One random fact about me is I had a speech impediment until I was 6. Good thing that got fixed or theatre and singing would have been... difficult! :-)

i take the cheese and all the toppings off my pizza :)

hahaha don't worry you're not the first person to tell me this. I should clarify, I SPRINKLE the soy sauce on the cheerios, as if they were rice, and really only if I have no other choice.

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

I have a night light in my bathrooms. I bet yours is cuter :)

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

Yes! I'm not alone! Go get that one out of the closet girl, he's probably bummed. I actually have a few in my garage, though, so I shouldn't be talking. They are on a shelf though..they were crowding our bed.

Getting scared is the worst! I hope there is wake boarding in your near future!

Buffy fans unite! Totally had the same fantasy in junior high hahaha

As far as the fear of waves goes, I think you just need to expose yourself to the ocean as often as you can. The more you understand it, the less scary it really is. Although, I don't think any of us will ever truly understand it.

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

Me too. I like most things to stay the same. I've even hated getting older since I was 7.

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

Thanks Malia! Stoked you're here!

My parents have an outdoor shower at their house that I use when I come up from the beach. When I don't go to the beach, showering seems like a chore. TMI? Most of the time I surf/shower at least 5 Xs per week. If the waves have been stormy, you will see my hair in a braid. :)

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

No, I wish. I think the only one I found was the abalone and maybe that cone shell. The shells around here aren't quite as exotic looking.

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

I would hate it, but I love hearing about your awkward moments haha. Please gather more stories so I can laugh at them.

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

Hey Cait! Thank you so much! This is the kind of comment that lifts up my whole day and stays in my heart. I loved your post on why you're a vegetarian.

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

Exactly!

I am serious about the Cheerios, although I should have clarified that I sprinkle it on them, I don't let them soak in it. And yes, salty breakfast only for me! :)

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

Welcome! I can learn from someone like you on the whole hugging thing, although I will probably never change. Ya, texting can be a pain. I used to hate it! I had an old school phone for years and resisted the smart phone, now that I caved and got one texting isn't as bad.

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

Nuh uh! hahaha I love this random fact about you. What did they think of you in Italy?

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

hahaha that's pretty funny. Veggie nuggets now, huh? I wonder how that would taste...I won't knock it either.

Aww, I bet you had a cute little voice. I say soldier "shoulder" if I don't concentrate. Got to see some more of this theatre side of you!

Ro said...

Well that's good to know... I was envisioning a bowl of cheerios with standing soy sauce and I was thinking "that's kinda intense!". :)

Devon @ TheMermaidChronicles said...

hahaha glad we cleared that up, I wound't want you thinking I'm totally weird ;)
