I almost ran this guy over. His feet, at least. Are you amused or horrified? I kinda laughed when I saw the pictures, but I could because I knew he was fine and it was just a close call. Honestly, I think most guys see a girl surfer out in the lineup and don't expect much. I'm just teaching them to hustle a little more when I'm coming, ya know? ;)
Do you ever feel like you need to prove yourself?

ahaha,,
i know what you're talking about. i live in a work environment dominated by men. i used to be to only girl in the team. and yes, sometimes i feel like i need to prove myself :)
Nice! Kick those boys' butts out there!
Yes! Growing up in Texas guys would actually let me have the wave, even if I wasn't at the peak (southern chivalry, I guess?). Then when I moved to Hawaii, guys would see a bikini and automatically drop in. It eventually stopped at my regular breaks, but so annoying!!!
yes, all the time! I work in a field of mostly men. The last meeting I went to there were 22 men and me. So yes I sometimes do feel the need to prove the reason I'm sitting in the room is justified!
Fun photos! I've been surfing a few times when I was younger, I'd love to eventually get back out there!

haha. so badass!
I'm totally amused. He was in your way. His fault, absolutely.
uhh i ran like 10 people over trying to lean to surf...
Were you trying to prove yourself, or he just happen to be there?? Hehe. I am always proving myself, especially behind the wheel. Yea, I drive a Prius, my acceleration sucks, but I can weave in and out of traffic with the best of them. Ha! (hehe, I laughed at myself for writing that)
Lol... totally know the feeling. In the surf and in the snow. But - just quietly - I do get a kick out of the surprise on their faces when they realise I mean business.. ;)
You're so hardcore. :)
Haha you go girl!
Haha, this is great. Not that I want you to run him over, LOL, but yes, I totally get what you're saying, about how maybe in the past men (or even women) have probably underestimated your surfing ability because you have boobs. Come on people. :) I see this happen in even non-physical non-sports environments, like where I work in graphic design sitting at a computer. I have felt the energy of "I'm a guy, we're just better", and I'm not hating on men, not at all... but this happened to be one particular human who happened to be a guy who was giving off this vibe. Of course I thought, "really? Your design doesn't say 'better' dude". Thankfully there are so many men & women who don't think this way, see the person for the person, man or woman. We are definitely evolving as humans, but yes you'll get the occasional macho/machista – as they say in Spanish. It happens :/ But it's just about keeping being awesome and undeniably good!
:)
Oh no! Yikes! I am always so amazed by your surfing. It goes against every bone in my body (big waves terrify me!). So did he say anything to you when it happened? I would've screamed, haha! Stopping by from SITS.
